RIM’s Tablet Game Plan


As foretold by the scuttlebutt The Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek kicked up last week, BlackBerry device maker Research In Motion came through with a head-first leap into the tablet world. At its developers conference this week, it unveiled the PlayBook, a seven-inch touchscreen tablet that should hit the market early next year. As with its BlackBerry line of handsets, the business market is Research In Motion’s real target with the PlayBook, but of course it wouldn’t mind if it just so happened to find a niche in the consumer market as well.
